Open and Affirming

First Congregational Church of Sharon, MA is an Open and Affirming Church!

Many church signs read "All Are Welcome" but that is not always true. You are welcome if you are like us - is what that means.

In 2013 our church community went through the ONA process, a time of learning about what it means to be an Open and Affirming church.

We wrote this Welcoming Statement as part of the process which was unanimously adopted by the congregation:

Welcome!

In the loving spirit of Jesus Christ, we, the First Congregational Church of Sharon, MA, affirm the dignity and worth of every person. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey, whatever your race, color, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, family structure, physical or mental ability, or health and economic circumstance, you are welcome in the full life and ministry of this church. We invite all to walk with us in the ways of the Lord, asking you to join in the blessings and responsibilities of our faith community.

All are invited to join us at Christ's table.

We mean it when we say "All Are Welcome!"
