Community Food Pantry
Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Community Food Pantry, located on the Church’s first floor, is open to anyone in need. Donations from members of the community at large supply the pantry with a variety of canned goods, household products, and hygiene supplies. On occasion, meals are provided to families in need.
Anyone in need is welcome to make use of the pantry. We do ask that our guests adhere to the following guidelines:
Doors open at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Everyone is asked to sign in on our Sign In Sheet. You will be called in by order. Only two people are allowed in the pantry at one time.
Take only one bag (supermarket size) of food per family per week and only what you need. Do not overfill your bag. We are feeding many people and need enough food to share with all. Our food sources are limited.
Please be kind to each other and to our volunteers. Everyone is welcome, but not all behaviors are welcome.
Need some help finding the food pantry? This video from our YouTube page will help you get here!
Fresh Food Every Week!
We do our best to have fresh produce, frozen meat and dairy products available for you. Read the whiteboard for daily offerings.
Please don't hesitate to ask one of our volunteers for help.
About our Food Pantry
The Community Food Pantry at the First Congregational Church of Sharon first began as an Eagle Scout Project by Joe Haviland of Troop 95 Sharon in June of 2013. Need for the Food Pantry has since grown over time, especially during the pandemic. Many people are experiencing food insecurity for the first time. Food insecurity is described as when a household is not able to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life. Food insecurity is at an all-time high.
Our Supporters
Our supporters are member of our community at large; members and friends of the church, neighbors, patrons of Shaw's Sharon, families of The Sharon Cooperative School and Cooperative Nature School, local Boy and Girl Scouts, Men's Club of Sharon, Sharon Mom's Club, Sharon Fire Dept., Sharon Schools, Ward's Berry Farm, Moosehill CSA, and so many more. Without this support, we could not keep our shelves stocked.
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations are always needed to help keep the Food Pantry operating . If you would like to make a monetary donation, please send a check payable to “First Congregational Church of Sharon”, write “Food Pantry” on the memo line, and send it to FCC of Sharon, 29 No. Main St., Sharon MA 02067. All donations will go to the food pantry fund and are used to purchase food for the pantry shelves and refrigerator.
Food Donations
Most of our food comes from our supporters. Our volunteers shop at local grocery stores, utilizing sales and purchasing food as needed to supplement what is received in donations.
We gratefully accept donations of non-perishable, not yet expired food items such as:
· Canned tuna, salmon, chicken, turkey, ham, stew, meat or canned pasta
· Beverages such as coffee, tea, fruit juice, juice boxes and shelf stable milk
· Flour, sugar, spices, condiments, cooking oil, white rice, canned tomatoes, pasta
sauce, mac & cheese, canned corn and canned peas
· Shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, personal care items, feminine hygiene
products
· Laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, cleaning products, etc.
Food donations can be left inside the blue door at the back of the church during regular food pantry hours.
Perishable food or large food donations are accepted as space is available. Please call the church at 781-784-2631 or email us at admin@fccofsharon.org to make arrangements.
