We have been saddened by the passing of our long time member and friend Ken Barton. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. A collation given by the Dorcas Society will follow in the Parish Hall. The following is from the Sharon Advocate.

Kenneth L. Barton Jr. SHARON Kenneth L. Barton Jr., of Sharon, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, following a period of failing health. He leaves behind his loving wife Barbara; a son, M. Lawrence and his wife Karen, and their two daughters, Teresa and Makayla of Carlisle; a daughter, Susan Barton and her husband Frank Penacho, and their two daughters, Lindsay and Angela of Middleboro. He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy B. Hall of Wilmington, Del., and Ernestine Priebe of Williamsville, N.Y.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ken was a graduate of Northeastern University and a retiree from the Foxboro Company. After retirement, he participated in the Re-Seed Program and taught in local schools. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed time spent at his home in New Hampshire. His pastimes included researching genealogy and collecting and repairing antique clocks. He served on several committees and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sharon. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Congregational Church of Sharon, 29 North Main St., Sharon, MA 02067, or Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 135 Ellis Ave., Norwood, MA 02062.
